On Thursday, 10th May 2018, Library Section organized a trip with form 2 to the National Parliament Library Section. I organized the trip escorted by the class teacher Mr. Kachamba. The aim of the trip was to promote a reading culture among young students and how they can use other search engines to source information required as they are preparing for the Checkpoint exam to come.

We departed at 08:40am and by 08:50 we were at National Parliament. Miss Khoza, the officer welcomed us and made all the introduction concerning the culture and values of place. She told us how useful is the library to the members of house and how students were supposed to behave in the premises, also other Library regulations, as avoid noise at all cost since the Members of the house were in for the session. Upon our way in we were privileged to meet one of the famous Member of Parliament Honorable Allan Ngumuya who took his time to talk to the student how he achieved in his career.

We were directed to their library where we were introduced to the Librarian Mr. Banda, from there all the necessary introduction about Parliament were made for example there vision which is to have excellent information management services and expertise that embraces modern technologies to ease accessibility to legislative information and support decision making at local, regional and global levels.
Student were also allowed to explore the library according to their sections and these include Malawiana Section which consist of Publications by Malawian and books published in Malawi , General and Parliamentary reference section and Law of Malawi section just to mention a few, before they could start asking questions.

We had also an opportunity to visit the house in session, though we did not stay long but we had a clue of the activities which are done the parliament too

Lastly, Miss Nkhoza thanked all the students for the wonderful time she had with them, and that shall remain memorable to the history of the Nation Malawi since it was written in their records, also she encouraged them to work hard in class in order to achieve their goal in life.
