Commercials Department
We Dream, We Dream, We Dare, We Do as a TEAM we are the CREAM
This day was one filled with excitement and expectation. A fulfilling day that saw a full month of preparation by students and teachers, especially the Commercials Department team. We managed to balance the academic and vocational side in the departmental activities and displays. We had a full week of environmental awareness with the aim of sensitizing our students about taking care of the environment, at school and at home. Card board boxes for litter were placed at strategic places around the school and posters with GO GREEN, KEEP OUR SCHOOL CLEAN, REDUCE, REUSE and RECYCLE were all over the school form the 31st of October to 3rd November. The department also encouraged teachers to teach values/virtues (in their lessons) that will help to produce a holistic child at Mt Sinai, (Responsibility, Honesty, Commitment, Respect and Love) that week.
The official program kicked off in ernerst at 1.30pm with the Managing Director Dr D. Banda touring the displays accompanied by the department’s HOD, Mrs N. Mlozi

On the other hand the judges were going around all art work admiring and discussing about the ingenuity, imagination and innovation in the small minds. They had to come up with the best articles in order to award them certificates of recognition and participation.
Judge H.Kachamba admiring the work done using pictures to come up with the name of our school Mount Sinai International School.
Art and poetry work was displayed from middle school, under the watchful eye of Mr Munthali and junior school work was also on display especially articles on PSHE. The teachers for primary school under Commercials Department are Mrs Tembo, Mrs Pemba, Mrs Katyola and Ms Msicha.
One of the events on the day was the subject quiz for the four subjects being taught in Commercials (B.Studies, B.Enterprise, Accounting and Economics). The quiz masters were Mr D.K Chithala and Mrs N. Mabvuva.
Parents also supported the fair, and their presence was a big motivation.
Judges doing their work during quiz and careers activities. They also had to compile the best on enterprise articles, poetry and art.
Careers time
It was an eventful day packed with activities to showcase what Commercials department is all about. We grow we learn and we deliver together. Teaching is an ongoing exercise of ceaseless learning and upgrading. It is a fulfilling career full of excitement and adventure. It is much of a triangle which cannot stand without the other end. The 3 stakeholders of the triangle are: the school, the students and the teachers. One cannot do without the other.
To add spice to the day, the school’s managing director gave a speech on GO GREEN, a theme the department adopted seeing how careless our students are in throwing anything anywhere without stopping to think about how littering makes our school an ordinary school. A clean environment is a safe environment, and an enjoyable one too. It is a consolidated effort that has to be made by the three arms of the triangle to make the DREAM of a CLEAN school real. We have to cultivate the passion in each stakeholders to think of a CLEAN environment in and away from school. The MD, in her speech emphasized this.
It is motivating to see appreciation in the eyes of the Managing Director and it instills the ownership of what we do as a department and propels us to maintain the standard of excellence as well as strive to do better and greater, until there is a consistency of excellency giving birth to legend.
The Head of High School Mr F.T Mushaninga also rose to the occasion with the vote of thanks. When the department and indeed the entire school is supported by management, the motivation grows and everyone aims for the sky. He thanked all who participated in the success of the Commercials Fair, indeed across the departments. Languages, Humanities, Exams and Commercials all worked as a team, and produced the fun-filled and educational day, which was well planned and organized by the CREAM TEAM.
Dear Parents
- We would like to remind you that magic words such as hello, please, I’m sorry, you’re welcome and thank you, begin to be learned at home.
- It’s also at home that children learn to be honest, humble, punctual/on time, diligent, show friends their sympathy, lovable, friendly, as well as to show respect to their elders, teachers and other children.
- Home is also where they learn to be clean, not talk with food in their mouths, talk bad about other students, where and how to properly dispose of waste/garbage
- Home is where they learn to be organized, plan and take good care of their belongings and that it’s not ok to touch others items without permission.
- Here at school, on the other hand, we teach them, math, history, geography, physics, science, english, economics, accounts, enterprise, business, art, poetry, design and technology, PSHE and physical education. In other words, we reinforce the education that children receive at home from their parents.
- So let’s work together to build a holistic child we will be proud of. It is YOUR and OUR responsibility.
